Disney's latest musical hits San Diego
Disney's latest musical comes to the La Jolla Playhouse following its world premiere last year in Arlington. A frothy, family-friendly delight, this show is based on the novel by Mary Rodgers, which has been adapted for the big screen twice, once in 1976 with Jodie Foster, and again in 2003 with Lindsay Lohan. The story follows a mother and daughter who don't always see eye to eye, but are forced to reckon with their differences when they wake up one morning having swapped bodies!
Freaky Friday boasts an impressive creative team, with the score coming courtesy of Pulitzer Prize-winning duo Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), while Friday Night Lights' writer Bridget Carpenter wrote to the book. Playing the mother and daughter in this San Diego production are Heidi Blickenstaff and Emma Hunton.
