Summer comes early
The incredible life and times of the Queen of Disco are the focus of this brand new musical from Colman Domingo, Robert Cary and Des McAnuff. Undoubtedly one of the most recognized voices in the world, Summer reigned supreme in the 1970s, bringing disco to into the mainstream with her enormous talent for writing and performing. The show will follow her meteoric rise to stardom, with three actresses who'll cover each stage of her incomparable career from her childhood in Boston, her emergence in Germany and of course her domination of the charts. Expect to hear 20 of her greatest hits, including the electronic masterpiece 'I Feel Love', 'Love to Love You Baby' and 'Macarthur Park', among many others.
Born in Boston in 1948, Summer first found her voice in church before going on to front psychedelic rock band Crow. After joining the international tour of Hair the iconic counterculture musical, she made her home in Europe. Whilst there she met dance music songwriters Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellote, with whom she went on to create some of her most legendary and influential music. The rest, as they say, is Disco-try!
