A new production of the Disney hit musical

Pittsburgh CLO and Kansas City Starlight theatres present their freshly revamped interpretation of the hit Disney musical that first wowed audiences as an animated movie 30 years ago! Based on one Hans Christian Andersen's arguably most beloved tale, the show features music by the eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and late Howard Ashman. Expect gorgeous costumes, sets and an exciting story that has a twist in its tail (sorry!) that Disney fans will absolutely fall in love with, over and over again when it swims into in , ,

What is it about?

Based on the 1989 smash hit movie that kick-started the Disney Renaissance, The Little Mermaid takes Hans Christian Anderson's tragic fairytale and gives it the ubiquitous Disney twist. Ariel is a lively but bored mermaid princess who feels trapped by her father's hatred of human beings. After sneaking to the surface one evening, she witnesses a disastrous shipwreck and rescues the handsome Prince Eric from drowning. Smitten by the handsome man, she is determined to win his love, and makes a desperate deal with her devious sea witch aunt Ursula to trade her fins for legs in order to pursue him on land. However, this comes at a heavy price - she must give up her beautiful voice.

However, Ursula has her eyes on King Triton's crown, and sees Ariel as her ticket to the oceanic throne. When the prince starts falling in love with Ariel, she sets out to claim him for her own, and win the throne at any cost. Can Ariel and Eric defeat her dastardly plan? Be carried away by its shimmering set, innovative mer-costumes and the glorious score by Alan Menken including Kiss the Girl and Part of Your World.
