Why See Cake?
HAVE YOUR CAKE....
Going strong after 20 years, the Sacramento rock band are back on tour performing their greatest hits in lieu of a new album that is currently in the works. The band cite country music, Mariachi, new wave, college rock, funk, Iranian folk music, Brazilian music and hip hop as their main influences and are particularly noted for lead singer McCrea's monotone singing style, sarcasm-heavy lyrics and unique trumpet lines. Their last album Showroom of Compassion was released in 2011 to the top of the chart for their first time.
Since forming in 1991, the band has released six studio albums that have performed well while introducing fans to new sounds and bringing unique instrumentation and composition from other genres to the rock world. Their concerts are all about FUN. Nothing is taken too seriously, except perhaps for the guitar riffs which cause the floor to reverb under your feet. These guys aren't about reinvention for its own sake; which makes us curious about their next album!
Performance date: 15 December 2017
