Einstein and Picasso meet in Steve Martin's light-hearted play
A playful exploration of art, science and genius, Picasso and the Lapine Agile is the first full length play by Steve Martin. Originally premiering at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre in 1993, it portrays an imaginary meeting between two colossal minds of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. Together with a cast of disparate characters gathered at the Paris bar Lapin Agile, they discuss the relative merits of art and science, and which is more valuable to society.
This Old Globe Theater production, which marks the third time they've staged a work by Martin, stars Philippe Bowgen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) as Pablo Picasso and Justin Long (New Girl) as Albert Einstein, as well as Donald Faison (Scrubs).
