This world premiere is totally delightful... Bryce Pinkham gives a star-making performance as the idiosyncratic Sam.

The Johnny Depp movie gets the musical treatment
The world was first introduced to the story of Benny and Joon in the classic 1993 movie, which starred a never better Johnny Depp. Now the Old Globe presents the world premiere of the musical adaptation, written by Kirsten Guenther, and boasting a score by Nolan Gasser and Mindi Dickstein. The cast is led by Tony nominee Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder), Hannah Elless (Bright Star) and Andrew Samonsky (South Pacific)
This quirky love romance centers on auto-mechanic Benny (Samonsky), who has devoted himself to care for his mentally ill sister Joon (Elless). Into their lives come Sam (Pinkham), a lovably eccentric cinephile, who delights in recreating routines from Buston Keaton movies. Sam and Joon soon begin to form a connection, but will Benny be able to let his sister out from under his wing?
