Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club
Why see Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club?
The Cuban superstars return!
This October, the famed Cuban ballad queen Omara Portuondo and member of the ubiquitous Buena Vista Social Club embarks on an intimate tour, showcasing their unique take on Latin music and American jazz. The BVSC will hit in , , . Joined by her fellow Club members, this all-star lineup also comprises acclaimed pianist Roberto Fonseca, Israeli clarinet and saxophone master Anat Cohen and jazz violinist Regina Carter. This evening is an undoubtedly dazzling affair as the Club make a rare return to perform in the United States.
Although slow to catch on in prominence in their native Cuba during the early Nineties, the country's burgeoning tourist industry brought the Club's recordings and romance back to the people. As Liverpool, UK is forever synonymous with The Beatles, so the crumbling romance of Old Havana is now forever associated with this unofficial brand, and has firmly put Cuban on the map in terms of the best Latin music around.
