Why see Sergio Mendes?
Do the samba
The iconic Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes will take to the stage once more in 2023 across North America, bringing his staggering seven decades-worth of bossa nova and samba classics to music lovers around the country! The Grammy winner and leader of legendary bossa nova group Brasil '66 is Latin music royalty, having brought Brazilian hits including Mas Que Nada to mainstream North American audiences through the ages.
The inimitable Mr Mendes broke through with the 1966 album Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66, followed by a string of much loved bossa and samba re-works of popular songs including the Beatles' Fool On The Hill and Simon & Garfunkel's Scarborough Fair. His enduring popularity has continued well into this millennium, famously collaborating with Black Eyed Peas in 2006 to re-record Mas Que Nada for the 21st century.
