In 2011, Robert Askins gave us Hand to God, the devilishly subversive comedy about a possessed hand puppet terrorising a school Bible club. Thee show garnered five Tony nominations and marked out Askins as a talent to watch.
For his follow-up, Askins presents The Squirrels as the opener for La Jolla's 2018/2019 season. This world premiere takes us into the dark heart of the animal kingdom, with squirrel pitted against squirrel as the cold winds of winter begin to blow. Tony winner Christopher Ashley, who helmed the breakout Broadway musical Come From Away, directs.
