Little Women Returns to the Stage
Louisa May Alcott's 19th century classic novel centers on the March sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy and their relatable transition from childhood to womanhood. The story is loosely based on Alcott's own life and family and was especially popular with girls during its time of publication where gender roles were forcibly present and difficult to break.
Little Women excelled at creating impactful and aspirational characters and telling women's life stories with the same importance that men's stories had always been told. The play has been adapted by Kate Hamill who was named 'Playwright of the Year' by The Wall Street Journal in 2017 and is directed by Sarah Rasmussen.
